Central to Ram Gopal Verma's Sarkar Raaj are plans for the construction of a 20k cr power plant that will light up the whole of Maharastra. As far as I cud tell, the plot of this headache-inducing film goes as follows: various badfellas in Gujrat don't like the fact that Maharastra wil be lit up. So lots of ppl r killed. Then some more ppl r killed. Then Aishwarya Rai, in a sharp business woman suit, chews her lip and cries silently. Then some more ppl r killed. Then Rai asks for a cup of tea and the film ends. At this point , after many complicated plot twists and lots of murderous double crossing, the power plant has still not been built. I am going to go on a limb and suggest that this is the reason why the film is so unremittingly dark. Obviously wid this ending Mr RGV is ready wid his third film.
I shd clarify that by 'dark', I'm nt talkin abt the subject matter: I mean that the film is quite literally, dark. In other words, there appear to be no electricity sources in the house whr most of the action takes place. Not even a tubelight or ceiling fan in sight!

The Kite Runner
I got through the movie once again albeit only in quick flashes... u wud like the movie if u r of tht type... but the closing frame is brilliant... enduring the unendurable nd still coming triumphs... vanquishing the burden of the past .... looking forward to eternal freedom... thts been the story of this incredible nation Afghanistan
Amir:
Do you like the kite? Did I ever tell you your father was the best kite runner in all of Kabul? He'd run the kites and never look up at the sky once. Some claimed he was just chasing the kite's shadow. But they didn't knew him like I did. He wasn't chasing shadows. He just knew!
I hope I get the time to read the novel too in watever summers I have got left. Reviews say the second work of Hosseini 'A Thousand Splendid Suns' is grt too.
Amir:
Do you like the kite? Did I ever tell you your father was the best kite runner in all of Kabul?
Do you want me to run that kite for you?
Sohrab slowly begins to interact with Amir, who enthusiastically runs the kite, saying to Sohrab what Hassan used to say to Amir in the past: "For you, a thousand times over."

A dishevelled friend, belonging to the cricket oblivious breed, having spent a few years abroad on phone :
"... yaar all the two months entirely passed by me... You mean Shane Warne is playimg for Jaipur- how's that possible? Didn't he retire a few months ago? Does Preity Zinta bat or ball? Is this a unisex tornament?...."
